Darryl Smith, PhD

Darryl F. Smith, PhD was educated at Harvard, Tufts, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He combines training in the creative process, education, and counseling in his work as an organizational consultant and coach. 

Dr. Smith is a consulting psychologist with the Raleigh office of Drake Beam Morin, a global career management/ outplacement firm.  In addition, he serves as an on-site EAP consultant at Durham Regional Hospital, providing individual counseling, management coaching, and organizational development.

His past work experience includes serving as Executive Director for Friendship House, a multifaceted non-profit community organization for low-income residents in Myrtle Beach; establishing a daycare in Boston's inner city; and providing service for a variety of public education and mental health facilities, including the Psychology Department at the Durham Veteran's Administration Medical Center.

Dr. Smith has studied with Daniel Goleman and Jon Kabat-Zinn and brings the latest thinking in Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness to his work. 

Dr. Smith is Myers-Briggs Type Indicator© qualified and a member of the Association for Psychological Type.  He is a member of the Research Triangle Area Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development and the Triangle Organizational Development Network.  He is affiliated with the Institute for Life Coaching.
